Dear Patriotic Ethiopians and Friends of Ethiopia and USA across the Globe:

It is with great sadness and shock that I learned the home calling of one of our unique patriot and hero of Ethiopia and the Horn! Professor Kinfe Abrham

I knew Dr Abraham when he was working on his interesting articles and coming to some of the zillion conferences we used to organize in Europe during the dark days of the Military Dictatorship.

He used to write interesting articles and was indeed an intellectual Giant of his time. I remember so many wonderful times we had discussing the many interesting challenges of Africa and Ethiopia- the Horn in particular.

The last time he was here in Washington DC, it was ironic that we did a series of television and radio interviews and he looked a man with destiny giving every second and ounce of his energy to peace, security and prosperity.

I will write more in detail, but for now, I want to say what a great man of honor and dignity and huge intellect.

I know his beloved wife, who in her own right is intelligent and very supportive to the great work he did. Without exaggeration, he is part of the big dots in the connection of US-Ethiopia relations, as I know many of his great achievements./

May the Lord bless his family in Ethiopia and Scandinavia and most importantly his beloved wife and I know for sure many in the Ethiopian Diplomatic community will miss this diminutive person in statue but a Giant man in his accomplishments, that I refer to the Great Millennial Diplomat of Ethiopia and Afria.

with regards and saddened by his sudden departure.

May he leave a legacy amongst us that Ethiopia does still have Giant Scholars and Diplomats hidden in all of us!

What a unique time for his departure, there was so much he could do!

But We are alive and we will carry his torch.

I am so overpowered with emotion that my tears are running as I write this.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (Samuel Gebru) - World renowned Ethiopian academic Mr. Kinfe Abraham, Ph.D. passed away in Addis Ababa on Thursday at age 57.

Dr. Kinfe was President of the Ethiopian International Institute for Peace and Development (EIIPD). According to the Armed Forces General Hospital in Addis Ababa, Dr. Kinfe passed away due to natural causes.

He was born in Adwa, Tigray on October 20, 1950. Other than serving as the EIIPD's President, Dr. Kinfe Abraham was an economist, educator, and political scientist.

Addis Ababa's Holy Trinity Cathedral will host Kinfe's funeral service on November 10th at 12:00 am. Friends, family, the Addis diplomatic corps and Ethiopian Government officials will all be present at the funeral services to be conducted at Addis Ababa's flagship church.

13.Editorial values

I. The GCC's Editorial Values, and the Editorial Guidelines, are rooted in the Governing Board Charter and the Agreement.

II. The Governing Board Charter guarantees the editorial independence of the GCC and sets out its Public Purposes. These are defined as:

a. Sustaining global citizenship and civil society with a focus on Ethiopia, AU, EU & USA and the larger Diaspora communities across the world.

b. Promoting education and learning, investment and sustainable development

c. Stimulating creativity and cultural excellence and business entrepreneurship

d. Representing the Board, its executives and its membership around the world, nations, regions and communities

e. Bringing the Audience to the world and the world to our audiences.

III. Advancing modern communication technologies. We actively promote modern communication technologies and its other purposes, helping to deliver to the public the benefit of emerging communications technologies and services and, in addition, taking a leading role in the switchover to digital radio, internet and television broadcasts.

14. The charter specifies that we should do all we can "to ensure that controversial subjects are treated with due accuracy and impartiality" in our news and other output dealing with matters of public policy or political or industrial controversy.

I. It also states that our output is forbidden from expressing the opinion of the GCC on current affairs or matters of public policy, other than broadcasting or the provision of online services.

II. The Accuracy, Impartiality and Politics, Public Policy and Polls sections of the Editorial Guidelines incorporate the GCC Trust's code as required under Paragraph the Agreement, giving guidance as to the rules to be observed in connection with the Agreement.

15. Advertisements and Sponsorship

In addition, the agreement forbids any GCC service funded by the license fee or grant-in-aid from carrying advertising or sponsored programs. To protect editorial integrity and independence, the GCC has drawn up its own guidelines on standards for advertising and sponsorship for its commercial television and online services.
